Subway Surfers World Tour: Tokyo 2023 is the 172nd World Tour of Subway Surfers and the 174th installment of the game. This update released a new character: Yuto, a new outfit for Cathy: Visual Kei Outfit and a new board: Sweet Chili.

The Marathon Challenge take place in and , the Tag Time Attack take place in , the Season Challenge take place in , the Hoverboard Challenge take place in , and the Mystery Hurdles take place in .

The Season Hunt tokens are Lucky Cats ().

The soundtrack from the update is still set as the default soundtrack and the Yuto Remix was not added to the game.
- Of all the 2023 remixes (, and ), only one was added to the Boombox - Soul Remix. And Rabbit Remix and Yuto Remix are not.
There in Yuto remix is the same japanese lyrics part as in soundtrack.
The translation of the japanese lyrics is:

There are 3 new bundles introduced in this update: "Pretty in Pink", "Get Loud" and "Take Flight".

On September 5th, 2023, the 3.17.1 update was released, it added 3 new backgrounds to Subway Studio, these are: High Score, Unlocking, and Top Run backgrounds.
- It also added 2 new characters to Subway Studio, these are: Catrine and Rain.
- This update was officially released for Android on September 6th 2023 and for IOS on the 7th.
- There are a few improvements in this update, the double up button now has a little pop up animation, the connection error icon has graffiti behind it now, and there is a new connection error screen so players aren’t stuck on save me anymore when an ad takes too long to load.
- Super Sneakers no longer are visible when a board (excluding Bouncer) with Super Jump is equipped or when a character is on a Jetpack or Pogo Stick.
  - This was reverted in a later update.
- In 3.17.1, The timer when less than 10 seconds remain in the Tag Time Attack Challenge and other Challenges is now semi-transparent.
This is the first edition since where Cathy had no HD graphics.
Bugs and fixes:
- Cathy lost the rim light shader.
- Cathy’s expressions show incorrectly.
- Cathy’s eyes were fixed in the Home Screen and many other parts of the menu.
- Yuto doesn't have rim light shader (HD Graphics).
- Eyes of Miss Maia and her variation Pride Miss Maia were fixed.
- Olivia’s eyes were fixed.
- Bonnie’s eyebrows in her Harujuku Outfit were fixed.
- Pride Fresh now uses the Fresh Spraycan animation instead of the default one.
- Moira’s lips in her default outfit were fixed.
- Moira’s thumbs in her Tourist Outfit now move.
- Alicia’s eyes were fixed.
- Carp Diem’s trail was fixed.
- Dylan got his eye movements as well as his facial expressions back (He never had expressions since his release, only in the trailer).
- Miss Maia is invisible in the Subway Studio, only her spraycan is visible. Although you can still see her on a hoverboard and highscore animation.
- Mina lost rim light/HD graphics in her Pop Outfit.
- Alicia lost the rim light shader in her Fall Outfit.
- In 3.17.1, there is a bug where it says “Coin Counter Complete” after every run, then in the achievements tab it’s already completed.
- In 3.17.1, the Facebook achievement shows completed after scrolling past it and then back up.
This update has the most fixes in 2023.
This is the first edition where the characters lost HD graphics/rim light shader in one of their outfits.
3.17.0 is the final update to support iOS 11.
This is the last edition with Taha's old look.
This is also the last edition to have Izzy’s old animation.
This is the last update to have the soundtrack in the Boombox.
