Subway Surfers World Tour: Rio 2023 is the 171st update in the World Tour series and the 173rd update of Subway Surfers, this update released two new characters: Tainá, and Yutani Harlequin Toad, a new outfit for Super Runner Fernando: Super Scout Outfit, and two new boards: Jamanta and Kite. This update was confirmed by SYBO in their X (formerly Twitter) status about Spring in June 2023.

The Marathon Challenge take place in and , the Tag Time Attack take place in , the Season Challenge take place in , the Hoverboard Challenge take place in , and the Mystery Hurdles take place in .

The Season Hunt tokens are Harlequin Toad ().

"Later this year, Subway Surfers is heading to Rio de Janeiro, offering players the opportunity to explore the rainforest and its wildlife. The game will feature a rainforest-themed environment, special characters, and outfits inspired by the Harlequin Toad. The update also includes the Underwater destination, which comes along with a refreshed and powered-up Manta Ray board."

- Yutani Harlequin Toad has no rim light shader.
- The Future Wave board is between Color Shift and Big Boss Board, not between Big Boss Board and Jamanta, this was fixed in 3.16.1.
- This is the last edition where Dylan had broken expressions.
- In the Marathon/Hoverboard Challenge, Spraybot has a bubble, despite being a robot.
