The Subway Studio (or AR) is a feature introduced in 3.13.1, in this feature you can record videos with characters and boards in the real world.

This feature was only available for Indonesia, UK, and Denmark users until June 22nd, 2023.
In the official SYBO trailer, Jake, Tricky, Fresh, Yutani, Miss Maia, Dino and Guard with his Dog have better graphics (with more rim light).
The AR Mode was restricted to players of age 16 years and older.
- It was later released for all players.
- It is also the second age restricted feature, the first being Online Save (introduced in ).
Akira, Alexandre, Alia, Andy, Alfie, Bob The Blob, Boombot, Brody, Bruno, Callum, Catrine, Cleo, Dino, Ella, Frank, Fresh, Frutti, Hali, Jake, J Balvin, Ji-Yeong, King, Koral, Lucy, Manny, Mike, Ming, Miss Maia, Morgan, Ninja, Outatime Jake, Pink, Prince K, Rain, Scarlett, Song Yi, Spike, Spraybot, Tagbot, Tainá, Tasha, Thursday, Tricky, Tutti, Yutani, Yuto and Zoe are the only characters who have their character animations added to Subway Studio.

They only do their idle animation with Jake, Tricky, Fresh, and Yutani, running animation and surfing on hoverboard animation.
- Jamie's Top Hat Outfit and Hatter Outfit have the animation of the original outfit (i.e. with the camera), but the animation of the camera with a tripod.
- Bjarki has a fishing rod from his Fisher Outfit instead of a sheep in his Power Outfit, while the Fisher Outfit has no fishing rod.
- Super Runner Fernando and his Super Scout Outfit have a slightly broken texture.
- Azura has a blue Jake's Sandwich bug in the update, the same thing happened to Meggan in .
Prior to the 3.33.1 update, Alba, Carlos, Cathy, Lucky, Meggan, Red Panda, Hamza, Faiza, Teabot, Finn, Electra, Hammy Bee, Pixel Jake, Ballerina Tricky, Guard King, Riley, Lily, Glorgalax, Ventura and Rudy Rascal were the only characters who had not been added to Subway Studio.
- When you add them to Subway Studio by editing files, they'll be running, but Alba, Carlos, and Cathy (Default and Visual Kei Outfits) won't be running.
Manny seems to be glitched and only his shadow appears, unless you have him ride a hoverboard or in the running animation, then he will appear.
If the player selects the icon in the character not available, it opens Jake in the Subway Studio.
Alexandre's Stan Outfit, Moira's Holi Outfit, George's Eggstravaganza Outfit, Hasina's Holiday Outfit, Koral's Sub Explorer Outfit, Vivienne's Hollywood Glam Outfit, Tainá's Judoka Outfit, Phoenix's Summer Outfit, Morgan's Swamp Mystery Outfit and Pink's Witchcap Outfit don't have an animation, they are in the running animation only.
There is a new feature in the 3.16.1 update, in which you can change the background color (Classic, Green, Red, Yellow, Turquoise, Blue, Purple, Pink, Brown, Grey, Black and White) or insert a custom image.
In the 3.17.1 update, Catrine and Rain were added to the Subway Studio.
- On September 6th, 2023, the 3.17.1 update was released, adding 3 new backgrounds, these are: High Score, Unlocking, and Top Run backgrounds.
On September 26th, 2023 (), the 3.18.1 update was released for some players. It added all characters to Subway Studio except for Alba, Carlos and Cathy.
- However the characters who were added do not have their character animations added yet.
In the update, background changed to the background, instead of Jake, Tricky, Fresh, and Yutani are now Zoe, and when the surfer runs, then with 4 Zoe.
All the characters in the Subway Studio are arranged in alphabetical order.
In and , a new special background was added, but only for those editions. It had a white background with electric symbols, which is the symbol for J Balvin.
In the 3.20.1 update, the character selection UI was changed to the "Me" menu UI.
In , AR Mode was removed.
- Most likely due to them not supporting the feature.
In the 3.32.3 update, all characters lost eye movement in Subway Studio.
In the 3.33.1 update, all missing characters were added, however, the idle animations for some characters (if previously available) were removed along with the boombox.
In the 3.35.0 update, there was a bug where Zi Hao and Mala had the T-pose when you started using them. If you clicked on another surfer (like Audrey), they would mimic that character's pose. This bug is fixed in 3.35.1. This also happened with Thursday and Dummy in and Clementine in .
