Marathon Challenge is a limited game mode of Subway Surfers located in the Daily Challenge/Daily Event tab officially released on September 6th, 2021 in version 2.22.2 of the game. The Marathon Challenge is very similar to the Daily Challenge where you need to run and reach a high score marked to collect the prizes, but you can do this in other cities randomly selected, during the Marathon Challenge the chosen city is available for the challenges and for the race normally, after completing the challenges you return to the World Tour City to collect the prizes and the Marathon Challenge City is available to travel for regular races. On October 15, 2021, Subway Surfers released a video on Instagram in which they said that instead of their being one city for Marathon Challenge, there would be two.

Tag Team/Timed Tag Team/Tag Time Attack[]

Tag Team/Timed Tag Team/Tag Team Attack (in Chinese Version called: Time Trail) is a part of the game's Marathon Challenge. Launched on October 22nd in version 2.24.2 of the update with the special halloween Tag Team, the Tag Team is similar to the Daily Challenge and the Marathon Challenge, but in it you need to set a high record with only selected characters from each event, after playing with one you need to wait a few minutes to play the character again or pay for keys for the minutes, or play with another selected character, but also with limited time to rerun the race. In update 3.1.1 () 'Tag Team' has been reworked. Now called Timed Tag Team and added a new item Hourglass which adds 5 seconds. In update 3.2.0 () renamed to Tag Time Attack and now Hourglass adds 10 seconds.

Play 2 Plant[]
Play 2 Plant is a special event of the ONG Ecologi that partnered with Subway Surfers in the 2.25.1 version of update started on November 4th, 2021 and it was created in the Marathon Challenge the Play 2 Plant event with the objective of coloring the gray scenery of New York by planting trees until you complete the 200,000 trees planted meter, at the end the scene reverts to its normal colors as before. This special event is a mix of the Marathon Challenge with the Tag Team, in the same format as the Tag Team the event needs to be played with selected boards, in the race, the score is only scored when the board is activated and while activated the board is essential for color the scenery with nature. In , there was also a Play 2 Plant challenge.

Gift Rush is the second special event of the Marathon Challenge released on update, a Christmas special in very similar to Play 2 Plant event. (Both events are similar to the Hoverboard Challenge) You only score points with the board activated, the snow covered scenery transforms by activating the board and spreading the Christmas magic, presents bounce from the board and Christmas trees grow on the scene, at the end after completing the challenges you will receive your Christmas rewards.

Super Runner Challenge/Super Tag Team is a special event in the game. It is a Tag Team variant however unlike Tag Team in , , , and you only have one surfer you can play with and there also 5 stages. To unlock the Super Runners you must complete all 5 stages of the challenge. In a variant of the mode named Super Tag Team was made however this was mostly unlocked by a accidental bug and later made a full release in the amount of surfers in this mode varies on the edition (3 in 4 in - and 5 in ) as 2 of the Super Runners might not exist in the mode until the mode comes back again.

Mystery Hurdles (in Chinese Version called: Mystery Obstacle) is a special event released for some uses January 16/17 with version 3.6.1 and 3.6.2 and then globally on January 24th 2023 in version 3.6.3 () of the game. You can do the run in other cities randomly selected, during the Mystery Hurdles the chosen city is available for the challenges and for the race normally, after completing the challenges you return to the World Tour City to collect the prizes and the Mystery Hurdles City is available to travel for regular races.

Rivals Challenge[]
Rivals Challenge is a special challenge that is only available in the updates where the new Rivals Crew were released. First, this challenge was released in update 3.12.0 () and released a new rival Catrine, for the 11th Anniversary of the Game, secondly it was in update 3.15.0 () where the second rival Bruno was released, the third was in update 3.18.0 () where the third rival Hali was released, and the fourth and last was in update 3.21.0 () where the fourth and final rival Lawrence was released. Each Rivals update is released 2 updates after the last one.

Here you need to run only on the Trains and areas that are Above The Ground. if you touch the Floor Twice, the Vines will catch you. You can only touch the Ground if you are using a Hoverboard. In this challenge the Guard and his Dog are not the ones Chasing you but instead it's a Vine.
