Busted is the second episode of Subway Surfers: The Animated Series.

It was the first time we ever got to see the home life of one of the characters and also the first time we saw a relative of a character. The episode also introduced Connie Bressler (Jake's mother), the first original character to be completely absent from the game, as well as the first time we saw The Inspector and his dog.

This was also the first episode to be focused on only one character. It aired 21 days after episode one, on June 22, 2018.

Synopsis[]

The Inspector confronts Jake's mom about all the trespassing he's been committing. However, rather than dealing with the consequences, Jake sneaks out to meet with his friends.

Plot[]

Jake's mother (Connie) hears a bang on the front door to only realize it's The Inspector with her son. Upon opening the door, she confronts The Inspector with his dog, to Jake's satisfaction, telling him that he can't go around man-handling her son. The Inspector, however, asserts to her that Jake and his friends were making trouble in his subway yard, again, which Jake excuses, saying it was his first time on a hoverboard, but quickly reclarifies it as his new skateboard. The Inspector scolds Connie by telling her to "put him on a shorter leach", which causes Jake to retaliate to him, but is silenced by his mom, who tells Jake that she will handle this. She then turns around to Jake and yells at him to go into his room and think about what he's done, to the surprise of Jake, who then storms off into his bedroom and slams the door shut.

Connie then feels guilty, asking if she was too mean. She then assures The Inspector that Jake is "such a good kid" and "so sweet", which is somewhat opposed by a loud crash in his bedroom. The Inspector's dog then wanders off, while Connie talks to The Inspector about her personal life. Meanwhile, in his bedroom, Jake puts a blue hoodie over a pillow and places it in his bed, making it appear that it's him. He then finds a gone off ham and cheese sandwich from behind his bed and decides to put it in his jean pocket to take with him. Before leaving, he takes off his cap and places it on top of the pillow to make it seem more like him. Jake then grabs his skateboard and leaves through the window, jumping onto a pipe and swirling down it.

Jake takes out his phone and contacts Fresh, Tricky and Yutani. However, he then hides from the voice of his mother yelling from his bedroom. Holding the pillow with the hoodie on it, she shouts that he's in big trouble, before yanking the pillow inside, causing his cap to fall down. Jake, hiding behind a pile of garbage bags, picks up his cap and puts it on before coming out. He then hops on his skateboard and rides down the alley, but is stopped by The Inspector's dog. The dog growls at Jake, which he copies. Jake and the dog have a faceoff, where Jake tries to divert the dog's attention by commanding it to sit and yelling "cat". But the dog continues to eye Jake, until Jake pulls out his sandwich, which makes the dog excited. However, Jake also begins to feel hungry when looking at the sandwich, where he takes a bite from it. This angers the dog, who turns aggressive towards Jake once again. But Jake throws the sandwich behind him, which causes the dog to run after it and eat it.

Jake's stomach then rumbles, where he takes out his phone and tells his friends to forget the yard and meet him at Mully's because he’s starving. He then skateboards down the streets leaving the dog full.

  • Jake uses his phone (also seen in episode 5, episode 6, episode 7, episode 10 and episode 11).

Continuity error(s)[]

Errors and inconsistencies between shots, within the narrative and what is considered canon.

  • When Jake is walking to his room, The Inspector is standing on the right side of the door, in the next shot, he's standing on the left side.
  • Jake's piggy bank, on his bed, changes from gold to pink.
  • When Jake picks up the sandwich, the pink award badge on the wall is fully exposed, however, in the shot where Jake takes off his cap, it's behind by a skateboard.
  • In the shot where Jake puts his cap on the pillow, the clock on the wall and the clock on the white table show different times.
  • Jake was able to swirl down the pipe, despite the width between it and the wall being too small.
  • The pipe Jake slid down is shown to be in front of the garbage bags, but in the birds-eye view shot of Jake and the dog, it's suddenly behind the bags.
  • The distance between Jake and the dog changes throughout various shots.
  • Jake puts down his phone before he says "I'm starving", however, when Fresh sees it in episode 9, it managed to still record him saying it.
